We've got 14 events you won't want to miss around Holland this fall

HOLLAND — Autumn doesn't technically arrive for a couple more weeks, but that isn't stopping locals from looking forward to cooler weather and fall fun.

As the weather tempers down, pumpkin spice coffee creamer, apple scented candles and Halloween decorations are already dominating stores.

How will you celebrate fall? We suggest starting with some of these local events:

Fall Fest at Crisp Country Acres: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at 5888 120th Ave. in Holland. Fall Fest includes a corn maze, a chance to visit the animals, games and a wagon ride in the field. Learn more at crispcountryacres.com/events.

Van Raalte Farm Civil War Muster: 9 a.m. Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 21-22, at 1076 E. 16th St. in Holland. This year’s event will see 250 re-enactors commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Spotsylvania, also known as the Crossroads of the Civil War. Admission is free. Critter Barn Family Round-Up: 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Critter Barn, 2950 80th Ave. in Zeeland. Celebrate the fall season with face painting, carnival games, bouncy inflatables, food trucks, animal races and more. Tickets are $8 ahead of time and $10 at the door. Harvest Festival: 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Benjamin’s Hope, 15468 Riley St. in Holland. Celebrate with hayrides, live music, games, hands-on outdoor activities and more. Admission is free. Learn more at benjaminshope.net.

Fall Fest: 10 a.m. Friday-Saturday, Oct. 4-5, on Eighth Street in downtown Holland. This two-day event includes an artisan market, jack-o-lantern displays, pumpkin carving, street performers and a fire truck parade. Learn more at hollandfallfest.com.

Zeeland Pumpkin Fest: 10 a.m. Friday-Saturday, Oct. 4-5, on Main Street and State Street in downtown Zeeland. This two-day festival includes musical performances, food vendors, a laser light show, a pet costume contest, a parade and more. Learn more at zeelandfestivals.com.

Fall Activities at Fellinlove Farms: 2-5 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 5, 12 and 19, at 6364 144th Ave. in Holland. Offering a different theme each week, check out the Not So Spooky Trail. Learn more at fellinlovefarm.com.

Slightly Spooky Cemetery Tour: 10-11 a.m. Saturdays, Oct. 12 and 19, at Pilgrim Home Cemetery, 370 E. 16th St. in Holland. Join the Holland Museum for these spooky, historical and family-friendly walking tours. Dress appropriate for the weather. Cost is $7 per person and registration is required. Fennville’s Annual Goose Festival: Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 10-13, on Main Street and Maple in Fennville. This weekend-long event is a celebration of fall with carnival rides, games, live music, food and more. Learn more at fennvillegoosefestival.com.

Treats and Trails at the Outdoor Discovery Center: 2-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 4214 56th St. in Holland. Critter Barn's Boo at the Farm: 1-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at 2950 80th Ave. in Zeeland. You'll find decorations, costumes, candy and the Spook-tacular Barn Trail, along with a chance to visit the animals. Tickets are $8. Learn more at critterbarn.org/events.

Downtown Holland Trick-or-Treating: 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. Grab the kids and costumes and head to downtown Holland, where more than 50 different downtown businesses and organizations will hand out candy, rain or shine. Family Halloween Walking Parade and Party: 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. starting at 449 Water St. in Saugatuck. Enjoy family-friendly games, costume contests and activities at Wicks Park following the parade. Learn more at saugatuck.com/event/family-halloween-walking-parade-party.

Douglas Halloween Parade for Adults: 10 p.m.-12 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, starting at 130 W. Center St. at the Saugatuck Douglas Old School House. That's assuming, of course, enough money is raised for the show to go on. Learn more at douglashalloween.com.
