Whatcom Roundup: One restaurant closes as another expands; Uisce Irish summer bash on tap
Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail, business and restaurant activity in and around Whatcom County:
Flatstick Pub remodel and expansion
Flatstick Pub, an indoor mini golf, pizza and beer restaurant, is reopening after a remodel that added new games and 21+ bar area.
The restaurant has been closed from Aug. 20-23 for the remodel, and reopens Saturday, Aug. 24. The restaurant will now have a 21 and up area with two Dartsee boards.
A nine-hole Duffleboard course also is being added.
“Played similar to mini golf, Duffleboard is played on tables and was created by Flatstick Pub,” according to Brian Largent, Flatstick Pub’s regional manager.
The restaurant is also expanding its hours and will be open from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday; noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and noon to midnight Friday and Saturday at 902 N. State St.
Chicago Joe’s closes
Chicago Joe’s, a Chicago-style hot dog restaurant has closed its doors, according to a social media post from the restaurant.
The Lynden restaurant opened in June 2023 at 8082 Guide Meridian, Suite 103.
The restaurant’s Facebook pages can no longer be accessed as of Aug. 22.
Summer of St. Patrick event
Bellingham’s Irish pub, Uisce, reopened in a new space back in June, and is hosting an Irish backyard party to celebrate the end of summer.
The “Summer of St. Patrick” backyard party runs from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at 1409 Cornwall Ave.
The event will include live Irish music, a Guinness beer truck, and fish and chips from Galley2Go food truck.
The event has a $3 cover charge.
