What's that new primary care clinic in Eugene?

The Oregon Constitution affirms the state’s role in ensuring that all Oregonians have a fundamental right to access affordable, clinically appropriate and cost-effective healthcare. Amid the area’s efforts to maintain this fundamental right after the closure of the PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center in the University District and the purchase of Oregon Medical Group by Optum in 2020 that led to a loss of staff physicians, Eugeneans have needed to transfer their care to other providers.

The newest addition to the primary care provider landscape in Eugene is anticipated to be Praxis Health. This independent healthcare network has been in the Pacific Northwest for 50 years. The Pearl Street Medical Clinic plans to open to new patients on Aug. 1, 2024.

Regional Administrator Dr. Viet Tran said in a press release about the new location that Praxis Health’s long-term commitment from its founders to supporting their community is the driving force that steered the opening of the Pearl Street Medical Clinic.

“With Pearl Street Medical Clinic, we continue their legacy of commitment and service with the support of Praxis Medical Group, striving to improve the health and well-being of those we serve,” Tran said.

“We welcome all those looking for a new healthcare home.”

The Pearl Street location will be the fifth Praxis Health office in the Eugene-Springfield area. The building, the former home to an Oregon Medical Group location, adds to the organization’s over 30 locations across the Pacific Northwest.
