The 2024 Paris Olympic Games are going into its first full week of competitions, but where are the Russian athletes?

Here is the status of the Belarusian and Russian athletes competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Are Russian athletes competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics?

There are about six Belarusian and a dozen Russian athletes competing at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, but not as members of the Russian Olympic Committee.

Those athletes are instead competing under the flag and colors of the Individual Neutral Athletes delegation, or AIN.

"The AIN compete under a turquoise flag with a circular white emblem marked 'AIN,' assigned by the IOC, and have also been assigned an instrumental anthem," read an AIN primer from EuroSport. "They are banned from wearing Russia’s colors of red, white and blue and compete wearing unmarked white kits."

Belarusian and Russian athletes competing under the AIN flag will participate in canoeing, gymnastics, judo, modern pentathlon, road cycling, rowing, shooting, swimming, taekwondo, tennis and weight lifting.

Russia banned from the 2024 Paris Olympics

The International Olympic Committee suspended Russia in 2023 from future olympic competition due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and several unlawful sports-related campaigns, which allegedly included Russia illegally setting up Russian olympic camps in Ukrainian territory.

Russia was also banned from the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo due to a series of sport-doping accusations.
