Why this Tennessee hot spot is ranked among the least expensive travel destinations in the U.S.
An East Tennessee travel spot was recently named one of the most affordable vacation spots in the United States.
Magical Nepal, a travel booking organization, determined the most and least expensive travel destinations in the country. They analyzed over 100 vacation destination spots in the United States to determine the rankings.
The primary factors considered were things like meals, accommodations, transport and attractions. Prices were also adjusted for seasonal inflation to reflect the most common travel periods for each destination.
Here's why travel experts consider Gatlinburg to be among the most affordable vacation destinations for 2024:

Gatlinburg, Tennessee, ranked as the fifth least expensive vacation destination in the U.S. for 2024.
"Nestled at the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg offers a blend of natural beauty and family-friendly attractions at an average daily cost of $211.36 per person," the list states.
The list estimated that accommodations would cost about $121 per night and meals would average $52.97 per day. From these numbers, a seven-day vacation for a family of four would total around $3,853.44.
"Gatlinburg’s mix of outdoor adventures and charming town attractions makes it a great choice for families and nature lovers looking for a budget-friendly getaway in the mountains," the list adds.

Aspen, Colorado, ranks as the most expensive vacation spot in the United States. The average cost per person for one day is $779.92. For a family of four to take a seven-day vacation, it would cost $14,081.21, and that is all without flights.
