The wife of Stanley Kotowski, the Massachusetts man whose body was found this week on Hilton Head Island, S.C. — 10 days after he disappeared — is sharing her heartache.

Kotowski, 60, was discovered underneath townhomes at the Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island on Monday, Aug. 26, according to authorities.

He went missing more than a week prior, on Friday, Aug. 16.

Jackie Kotowski, Stanley's wife, mourned the death of her husband in a statement shared on Facebook the same day he was found. “Sadly, he is no longer with us,” she wrote on Monday. “Our hearts are heavy with grief as we begin to process this unimaginable loss.”

Jackie then thanked “everyone who offered their support, shared information, and helped in the search efforts” for her husband.

“Your kindness and concern have meant the world to us during this incredibly difficult time,” she wrote. “As we take the time to come to terms with this news, we ask for your continued thoughts and prayers.”

Stanley disappeared on Aug. 16 around 10:30 a.m. local time, officials have said.

Jackie told authorities that her husband was worried that the Sea Pines Resort, where they were staying, was "a 'set up' and that the people there were "out to get him," according to local TV station WJCL, citing a report from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

In the police report, Jackie also said her husband claimed people were “watching him” and told her before his disappearance, “Promise me you will go on without me.”

In an interview with WJCL before her husband was found, Jackie said he had been experiencing issues with insomnia for about a month and that his anxiety was progressively “getting worse and worse and worse."

"He started to get a little paranoid," she said then.

Jackie told WJCL that her husband had “just walked out the door” on Aug. 16. Authorities said he left the vacation home without his phone or wallet and was seen in doorbell camera footage walking away barefoot.

On Monday, Stanley's body was found in a small crawl space underneath a pair of townhomes about 150 to 200 feet away from where he was last seen on camera, according to authorities.

Authorities believe he died the same day he went missing.

An autopsy determined he died by suicide, Beaufort County Coroner David Ott announced at a news conference on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
