Who is winning the presidential election?

A recent USA Today/Suffolk University poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump by a slim margin in battleground Pennsylvania.

Early voting started last week in the state, considered a key swing state with a bounty of Electoral College votes up for grabs.

The Teamsters’ national union opted not to support either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump, but the Pennsylvania Conference gave its support to the Vice President instead of the former President.

And the vice presidential debate — likely the last debate before Election Day — is next week with running mates on each side hoping to deliver votes from middle America.

So, who’s winning the race in Pennsylvania between Harris and Trump?

Pennsylvania presidential polls

Pennsylvania remains one of the most crucial battlegrounds, with its 19 electoral votes — the most of any swing states — likely to play a pivotal — if not deciding — role in the outcome.

Harris holds a 3-point lead overall and favorable margins in key bellwether counties in a recent poll; she’s up by 5 points in Northampton County and 4 points in Erie County, two regions that have historically predicted the state’s overall winner.

Early voting, absentee and mail-in ballots are available and both campaigns are hoping to lock in support and build momentum for Nov. 5.

In 2020, Pennsylvania’s early voting surge was essential to Joe Biden’s victory.

Next week’s vice presidential debate between Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Sen. JD Vance will be another crucial point in the race.

The debate between Harris and Trump earlier this month featured extended exchanges about Pennsylvania’s fracking industry.

Pennsylvania is historically unpredictable. In 2016, Trump trailed at this stage of the race but ultimately won the state by less than 1%.

In 2020, Biden held a consistent lead and won Pennsylvania by just over 1%.
