WPIAL releases 2024 Fall sports championship schedules

Thursday afternoon, the WPIAL announced the dates and locations for the upcoming fall championships that will run from September to November. A total of 10 sports are set to hold championship events across the fall sports season with the first championship being held on Sept. 18.

The one major change that will take place this fall is the change in location of the WPIAL's Class 4A and 5A championship games.

Over the past several years, Class 1-4A would all compete for the WPIAL football championships at Acrisure Stadium due to their state playoff rounds beginning one week later than Class 5A and 6A.

However, this year, Norwin High School will host the WPIAL Class 4A championship game due to their state playoff bracket beginning one week earlier than the rest of the classifications competing at Acrisure Stadium.

Along with the 4A championship game being moved, WPIAL’s 5A championship game will now be back at Acrisure Stadium after being hosted at Norwin High School for the past several years.

A full list of the 2024 fall championship locations and dates for the fall season are listed below with both dates and locations subject to change.

Nov. 2, 2024, at. Cameron Stadium (Washington & Jefferson College)

Football

Nov. 16, 2024 Class 4A & 6A Championships at. Norwin High School (North Huntingdon, Pa.)

Nov. 23, 2024 Class 1A-3A & 5A Championships at. Acrisure Stadium (Pittsburgh, Pa.)

Boys’ Golf

Oct. 1, 2024 Class 3A Individual Championship at. Oakmont Country Club (Oakmont, Pa.)

Oct. 2, 2024 Class 2A Individual Championship at. Sewickley Heights Golf Club (Sewickley, Pa.)

Oct. 10, 2024 Team Championships at. Cedarbrook Gold Golf Course (Belle Vernon, Pa.)
