New York owes some Binghamton residents money. Check if your name is the list

A quick check of the state's database of unclaimed funds shows nearly 2,000 residents or businesses in Binghamton have money waiting for them. More than 600 in Endicott and almost 400 in Vestal have refunds awaiting them, as well as nearly 600 in Johnson City.

For years, the New York State Comptroller's Office has accumulated money that has gone unclaimed, but it's up to residents to determine whether their name appears in the database and to follow the process of recovering the money owed.

There is no fee to reclaim funds, and if the money isn't claimed after several years, it goes into the state's general fund to pay for programs and services.
